One Planet Only – Our tribute to Sir David Attenborough
•Posted on March 02 2021

Today is UN World Wildlife Day, with the purpose “to celebrate and raise awareness of the world’s wild animals and plants.” This year, with the theme Sustaining all life on earth, we’d like to bring attention to this by launching a Limited edition knee-high as a tribute to Sir David Attenborough, the naturalist who has dedicated his whole life documenting nature and our human impact on it.
Since the beginning of Swedish Stockings’ journey about 7 years ago, we have been working towards changing and influencing the entire hosiery industry. We create pantyhose from both pre- and post-consumer nylon waste and in addition, ensure conserving or reusing water, decreasing emissions, reducing and recycling waste throughout the production chain. We are very passionate about nature and the impact we as a company and individuals have on it. Watching Sir David Attenborough’s movie A Life on Our Planet, left us very moved. In it, he is sharing his witness statement and concern for our planet because of the harmful impact we humans have on it. However though, we are not out of hope.
“We need to work with nature, rather than against it.”
– Sir David Attenborough
In the movie Sir David Attenborough brings up both climate change and biodiversity loss, which we need to combat in order to restore stability. An animal that is endangered is the Gorilla. The biggest threat to the species is habitat destruction, hunting and trade, and weak law enforcement failing to protect animals and nature. (WWF)
In order to show our commitment and tribute the work of Sir David Attenborough we have chosen to name our new Limited edition knee-high socks after him. We are using our brand and social platform to educate our followers about Gorillas and the purpose of World Wildlife Day.

“The Sir David sock was born as an act of admiration for Sir David Attenborough and his extraordinary lifelong work as a naturalist. Using our brand and social platform to highlight that there is no planet B, at the same time as delivering on our promise of a more sustainable industry”
– Helena Leach Squire, Brand Director at Swedish Stockings
For every sold Sir David sock, we will donate €5 to WWF in order to help prevent the extinction of the endangered Gorillas and further shine a light on the fact that we all have a responsibility to look after our planet.
