STLMFW Lunch – From Tights to Art

A Celebration of Sustainability and Art During Stockholm Fashion Week

It was a sunny and beautiful day in Stockholm during Stockholm Fashion Week. At Café Klotet in vibrant Södermalm, Swedish Stockings welcomed buyers and press to an intimate lunch gathering a moment to pause, connect, and reflect on the future of fashion. Over lively conversations, guests came together to celebrate a powerful fusion of sustainable fashion and contemporary art.

Sustainable Fashion Meets Contemporary Art

We proudly presented the launch of an exclusive artist collaboration with American textile artist Sienna Martz. The event spotlighted our ongoing commitment to circular fashion through the Swedish Stockings' Recycling Club, reinforcing our mission to drive innovation and sustainability in the fashion industry.

Looking ahead to 2025, our Recycling Club takes a bold step into the art world with this new collaboration. Sienna Martz has transformed discarded tights into striking, one-of-a-kind textile artworks. This creative initiative goes beyond fashion, it reimagines waste as raw material for artistic expression and long-lasting design.

By partnering with artists like Sienna Martz, we continue to challenge the conventional lifecycle of fashion products. We are committed to repurposing and reinventing, giving our materials new meaning and extended life outside of their original use.

Creating a Second Life for Tights since 2016

During lunch, guests dined while seated around a symbol of our mission: tables made from recycled tights. These tables, developed through our Recycling Club and designed by Gustaf Westman, served as a reminder that fashion waste can become something new, useful, and beautiful. At Swedish Stockings, we are dedicated to changing the hosiery industry for the better. Through the Recycling Club, we give worn-out tights a second life and keep them out of landfills. Since 2016, we’ve recycled thousands of pairs and even transformed them into sustainable furniture like tables and now also, into art.
