Swedish Stockings Recycling Club

Put Your Old Tights To Good Use

Each year, 8 billion pairs of tights are produced, worn once and then discarded. This makes hosiery women’s biggest wear-and-tear clothing item.

At Swedish Stockings, we constantly strive to find new and innovative materials and sustainable production methods. Currently, our collection consists of more than 86% recycled materials. And aside from the materials used, our factories in Italy only use responsible production processes and renewable resources.

Through our Recycling Club, we collect your old tights and put the waste to good use, creating a collection of tables together with Swedish architect turned designer, Gustaf Westman — just one example of how we can put material already produced towards something that will last a lot longer.

What we do with your old tights

In the beginning, we collected and ground down old pantyhose to be used as filler material for industrial fibreglass tanks, often used in the commercial industry to separate grease from water, such as at gas stations and restaurants. This material is very durable and last for decades, and using your old pantyhose for them means that new material does not have to be produced as filler. Glamorous? No. Sustainable? Yes.
